What Is Patreon?

A website that allows independent content creators to publish work directly to an exclusive audience of their choosing. Subscribers are called “patrons” and creators have control over different subscription levels, or tiers, where they can determine what content is available to which tier. 

What Do I Get As A Patron?

My intention from day one has been to provide all TKDWN content for free, to everyone. And as we grow, the main pieces of content will always remain freely available. This includes all rankings, interviews, and event previews. However, there are always new content ideas and some will be for paid Patrons exclusively. It’s up to me to make that content worth the price and up to you to decide if it is.

How Is Patreon Different From Rokfin?

Both Patreon and Rokfin are platforms for creators to publish content. Patreon treats each creator independently and patrons subscribe directly to the creator channels they want to. A subscription to one channel does not grant access to other Patreon channels. 

Rokfin treats each creator as part of an ecosystem. Subscribers to the website get access to every other channel on the platform. Currently, a majority of wrestling content is provided by wrestling channels on Rokfin. 

Patreon subscriptions are paid in USD and channels receive USD. Rokfin subscriptions are paid in USD and channels receive RAE (their own crypto coin).

Why Is TKDWN Prioritizing Patreon Over Rokfin?

With so many wrestling channels already on Rokfin, it has become the go to platform for fans of the sport. And I realize getting access to thousands of channels for the price of one monthly subscription is a great value. It is a great ecosystem to be a part of.

However, with so much uncertainty around the exchange rate of the RAE coin, and with a less direct (1:1) relationship between each subscriber and us, I believe it is better as we grow to prioritize the platform that is more stable, even if it isn’t where wrestling fans typically go.
